The backup to local storage is much faster than cloud backup. I have not explored this feature fully but have used Iperius to restore the encrypted zipfiles succesfully. The other creates files that must be opened by Iperius during restore. One creates zipfiles that can be opened with standard utilities like 7-zip. The Iperius tutorial on this shows two methods. I want everything that is copied to the cloud to be encrypted. The free version of Iperius does not include the backup-to-cloud feature so I bought the Desktop (3-PC) license. I am backing up three PCs to a local hard disk and to the cloud. I am still trying different backup configurations to back up my home network to OneDrive, so far without satisfaction. I am a new user to Iperius and to cloud backup. Does anyone have any experience with this software, good or bad?ĭo you recommend any other free solutions for scheduled, compressed backups? So far as I can tell, this should provide us with a reliable solution. After doing some research (initially using a batch file and task scheduler), I came across Iperius Backup (free) to copy and zip our fGDBs to a OneDrive folder. I also intend on copying the data to a secondary drive on the local machines and to Google Drive once a week. My plan is to utilize a backup and compression software to send the fGDBs to the cloud every night. The main goal is to backup our working fGDBs daily to prevent data loss. We currently do not have our own server (the plan is to have one in the future) but each staff member has 1 TB of OneDrive storage and our organization has much more capacity through SharePoint. I have been charged with establishing a backup solution for a relatively small GIS outfit (20 staff members) on a tight budget.
